CD Covers in your musics on V8

You probably have saw in the commercial (or even in the images over the internet) that the V8 shows the CD covers while playing music. Well its not really like that if the cd cover isn’t already in the music file.

To include the CD covers in your music, download this program:

After installing, open it and in the hierarchy in the left side navigate to the folder where your musics are located, select the songs you want to include the CD cover, right click then select the option “Edit tag in Selected files”.

After you do that will appear a screen like this:

Check the “Art” thing in the top, the click in the “Add” button. Now go to the folder where the CD cover is located and select it. Then press apply and you are done.

Now just pass your music to your V8 and now it should show the cd covers while playing ;).

Tutorial – Flashing your Motorola mobile

In this tutorial I’ll teach how to flash your mobile.

Before you download any firmware or bootloader from somewhere, make sure they are compatible with your mobile, as if you install the wrong will brick your phone. Also make sure to have the battery fully charged before continue.

Also remember that flashing your mobile breaks the Motorola Contract and you will lose your warranty, so any future problems that may occur will be charged by the maintenance guys.

Remember to fully charge the battery of your mobile before making any changes and make a backup (pictures, music, everything you can), because they usually are deleted during the flash proccess, specially if they aren’t in a memory card. Flashing bootloaders usually won’t delete any data, but its advisable to backup it.

 

Let’s begin the tutorial:

First you need to download RSD Lite. I recommend using RSD Lite V. 4.2. After installing RSD Lite, install the lastest USB drivers available: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/, if you do not want to register in this site, you can download ‘em here:

• After installing the lastest USB drivers available, restart your computer.
• Go to Menu > Settings > Connections > USB Settings > Modem, then connect your mobile in your computer using the usb cable. And open RSD Lite.
• It should reconize your mobile just as the image below:

• Click in the “…” button, select the firmware or bootloader you want to install on your mobile. Before flashing make sure its compatible with your phone model. For example: V8 512 MB firmwares aren’t compatible with V8 2GB firmwares neither Luxury nor V9, so if they are made to V8 512 MB its JUST to V8 512 MB and should not be installed in any other mobile as it will brick it.

 

• Then click in the Start button.
• Do not remove and avoid use the computer during the flash proccess. Do not unplug the usb cable and do not turn off your computer, cuz if you do that will brich your mobile. After you click in the start button will appear a progress bar showing the percent of what has been done already. Your phone will restart after completing the proccess, but you should not disconnect it from the computer ‘til the message “PASS” appear, as the image below:

If you followed all those steps your mobile should have the new firmware/bootloader/linuxmod/whatever. Have fun ;).

Change Bluetooth name

Its simpler than it seems. Some people even know how to go to the place, but don’t know how to because the bluetooth is off.

First off all, turn your Bluetooth On: Menu > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Options > Manage > Setup Bluetooth > Power > On.

After turning the bluetooth on, continue in Setup Bluetooth menu, and click on “My Device” menu, then rename to anything you want.

Very easy, isnt it? :D

Install Java games and applications on your Razr2 V8

Installing Java Games/Apps is very simple, you don't even need the .jad file. Only the .jar file.

 

To do this, put your mobile in Memory Card mode(or Extended Memory, that really depends of which firmware you use) by going to Main Menu > Connections > USB Setting, then open your mobile drive with windows explorer and place the .jar inside the V8.

Disconnect the phone from the computer then in your mobile go where the file is located.

You will see a screen that look almost like this one: (depends of your language)

Click in the Install (Instalar) button.

When asked, install in the Extended Mmory (Memory Card) the game, so it will run faster and smothly.

 

Now enjoy your Java Apps/ Games!

Make your own playlists

Its very simple and useful tip. Even though many people already know how to do that, im making this small tutorial to show to those that don't know how to. So here is it:

• Open the Music Player of your Motorola Razr² V8, then go to the Playlists menu.
• Options > Create New Playlist.
• Enter any name for the playlist you are creating then press Save button.
• Open the playlist you have just created > Add Songs.
• Select the musics you want to add to the playlist.
• Ok, you are ready to enjoy your favorite musics!

Configure maximum quality in pictures and videos

Theres many people that don't know how to change this option, even though its really easy to find.

And, unbelievable its not enabled by default.

So there's it:

• Press the left side button of your mobile to open the came or click on Main Menu > Multimedia > Camera;
• Options > Camera Settings;
• Picture Settings, in the Resolution select Large (1200x1600) and in the Quality select Best;
• Press the Back menu button, then go to Video Settings menu;
• In Resolution change to Medium (176x144), Quality change to Best and Video Length change to Maximum (then you will be able to record up to 2 hours).

Blocking with passwords your Razr2 V8 Apps

Blocking the applications will make so those that try to access will have to enter a 4-digit password, user-defined.

This can be useful, so no one can remove your contacts, your messages, etc.

Although this option is very easy to be activated, many users don't know how to, specially because its not included in the V8 manual.

So, lets do it:

• Open the Main Menu;
• Click Settings;
• Open the Security option (if you ask for a password, it is probably 1234 or 0000);
• Change Passwords, then change the password of the Unlock Code;

 

Now to block the applications

• Return menu Security;
• Open Application Lock (probably will ask for a password, will be the password you put in the previous step);
• Block anything you want :-)

Increasing battery life of Motorola Razr² V8

Tired of your phone's battery finish in less than 2 days without even being used? With these useful tips your mobile battery will last longer.

 

Reduce the brightness of the V8 screen:

Despite being a great screen with very bright colors, it consumes to much battery. The outer screen as example, even though it doesn't have many features, just by seeing the time it will use a lot of battery.

The standard brightness of Razr2 V8 is 3, but you can reduce it to 0. The changes will be noticeable, however you will realize that even with less bright than before it will have a better display than many others mobiles of the same price.

To change the brightness, do the following:

• Open Main Menu;
• Settings;
• Phone Settings;
• Display Settings;
• Brightness, decrease to 0 or the amount you want. The lower, more battery life will be preserved.

 

Reduce speed of network search - Only do this if you live in a big city, else you may get bad signal strengh:

Reducing the time it search for signal will make it use less battery.

To reduce:

• Open Main Menu;
• Settings;
• Network;
• Search Setup;
• Speed, change to Slow.

Select the band the mobile will use with your carrier network:

The Motorola Razr² V8 is Quad-Band, so by default it will aways search for signal in the 4 differents band. Selection only a couple of bands will considerably increase battery life. Most of the mobile networks operates with band 900/1800, so choose it according to the carrier you use.

To do this:

• Open Main Menu;
• Settings;
• Network;
• Search Setup;
• Band, then change to the band your carrier use.

 

Turn off the Bluetooth when not in use:

When enabled, the bluetooth signal is countinuously being sent out there. Motorola V8 bluetooth version is 2.0, despite the increased speed than version 1.0 it spends much more battery.

To disable:

• Open Main Menu;
• Settings;
• Connections;
• Bluetooth;
• Options > Manage > Setup Bluetooth > Bluetooth Power, change to Off.

 

Disable annoying sounds:

By default, V8 comes with many unnecessary sounds (and often annoying) when you press any button.

To disable:

• Open the Main Menu;
• Settings;
• Profiles;
• In the option Keypad volumes change to Silent.
